Hana Highway 5 - Things to do in Hana

While you are out seeing the sights around Hana, you will more than likely wish to get a bite to eat. There are three pretty good places to eat which include Hana Ranch House, Hotel Hana Maui and Tutu’s Snack Shop.

The Hana Ranch House has great dinners even though their lunch offers are not terrific. Dinners on the other hand can be quite scrumptious. You will enjoy such items as pizza, beef, pasta, and seafood. Eating outside on the tables is very enjoyable with prices are $ 7 to $ 11 for breakfast, $ 10 to $ 14 for lunch, and $ 10 for $ 20 for dinner. They do have a dress code or at least what you are not allowed to wear; which include tank tops and bathing suits.

Hotel Hana Maui offers fine dining and is the only place in Hana where you can find such treats. Breakfast and lunch have small menus but dinner of course offers more. The prices for dinner are anyway from $ 35 to $ 50. They have a very strict dress code, which includes collared shirts, slacks, and nice shorts for men and for women similar clothing. Reservations are required.

Tutu’s Snack Shop is situated on Hana Bay. This is the most popular place for lunch. Yes, they have hamburgers, French fries, hot dogs, chili, plate lunches, and teriyaki chicken. They even offer some great breakfast sandwiches if you are there in the morning. Average prices are between $ 3 and $ 7.

Some great sites around Hana include The Han Cultural Center. It is a small museum with such displays as shells, quilts, Hawaiian stone tools, and other unique items. The museum is located on Ke’anini Street

The Hina Maliahena’s Hana Village Marketplace is the place you should go if you wish to prepare your own food while renting a cabin or condominium in Hana. You can find all kinds of yummy treats that you cannot find back home.

Love water sports? Hana- Maui Sea sports has unique trips at Hana Bay. Enjoying kayaking and snorkeling can help you enjoy the water in Hana while observing all the sea creatures that call the area home. The trip is a 2 ½-hour tour of Hana Bay and a few other close by areas. The tour is great and gets you up close and personal to what lives under the sea. The price for the tour at the time of this writing is $ 79.

Hasegawa General Store is the place to find anything. If it is stuff you are looking for you are in for a big treat. You can find everything from epoxy to shower curtain rings, to aloha shirts. The great part is you will have to take your time and browse as nothing is really in a set order. Take it slow like the residents of Maui and find the movie rentals close to the fishing gear and the cabbage nearby the lawnmowers. Enjoy browsing, you may find something other than you went to store to purchase that you cannot live without. Some items are going to be expensive while others are unbelievable cheaper than what you can find elsewhere.

No matter, what you plan on doing in Hana, you are sure to love strolling around and visiting all the sights. Remember to take your time, you may never get to visit again and if you miss it this time you will regret it once you are back home. Enjoy breakfast, walking along the beach, visiting the museum, finding souvenirs to take home, and of course body surfing in a quiet village in paradise.
